I am so grateful that faith in Jesus Christ has been the foundation of my life beginning with a personal and deeply spiritual experience which changed my life. Because of many circumstances, I was on my own during my last high school years. I was a bit of a rebel and really not interested in anything to do with ‘religion.’ Then, unexpectedly when I was 17 I received a witness that the Gospel of Jesus Christ as taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was true. The experience was something I could not deny. I immediately desired to be baptized but since I was a minor and not in touch with my parents, I had to wait some months until my 18th birthday. Those months gave me a chance to learn more of the doctrines, the wonderful plan of salvation, the atonement and gain other important understandings. Finally, on September 5, 1958, I was baptized. Now 60 years later, that experience and my testimony of the truths found in the LDS Church are still the center of my life. Over all the years and changes in my life, my testimony of the Savior has not changed — although it has grown. I know there is a purpose for life and that ‘families are forever.’ I have a testimony that God lives, that we are his children and He loves us. I testify that His Son, Jesus Christ, is literally our Savior and Redeemer. I am so grateful for the scriptures which I love to read and where I can learn from the testimonies of others.
